As a platform through which large crowds of people from various linguistic, cultural and social backgrounds transit every day; Singapore food courts have a big potential in terms of raising awareness on environmental issues and sustainability. However, to date very little has been done within food courts to raise such much needed awareness.
Food courts are the main generators of waste in Singapore and therefore are an excellent platform to focus on. This certification programme aims to raise awareness within the community and to look into minimisation strategies on a large scale which could in term have a very significant beneficial impacts for reducing the amounts of waste that Singapore generates.
