The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) and City Developments Limited (CDL) have collaborated to launch Project Eco-Office, a green initiative whose main objective is to help offices in Singapore implement effective environmentally-friendly practices by increasing awareness amongst staff, and by making available a range of knowledge-based and practical resources to them.

The Eco-Office Kit and the Online Eco-Office Rating System are two such resources, formulated to encourage the improvement of environmental practices in offices. Eco-Office Kits are designed to raise environmental awareness amongst office workers and help cultivate eco-friendly habits, while the Online Eco-Office Rating System allows offices to evaluate their levels of eco-friendliness, based on parameters such as the company’s environmental policies, consumption and waste management strategies, and recycling practices.

Offices that achieve a satisfactory rating on the Eco-Office Rating System can then apply for an Eco-Office Label. The benefits of the Eco-Office Label certification include access to socially and environmentally responsible corporate networks, and an ability to advertise the office’s high levels of environmental friendliness.
