For
the Consumer
Why
We Should Buy GreenLabel Products
Apart from selecting a product based on its price, performance and other
attributes, its impact on the environment should also be carefully weighed.
We, as consumers, have the power and responsibility to choose and purchase
products that are less harmful to the environment in their manufacturing,
use or disposal.
In doing so
we are not only directly improving the environment through the use of
a specific product, but we are also sending a clear message to industries
that the market demands such products and ever increasingly products need
to be green to be competitive.
How to
Identify
Look out for the GreenLabel logo on the product, retail packaging, or
attached sticker. The GreenLabel is accompanied by the applicant’s identification
number and a description of what environmental aspects the product has
been awarded for.
Where
to Buy
Products carrying the GreenLabel are available at all major departmental
stores, supermarkets, provision stores and bookshops.
New Product
Categories
New categories of products are continually being considered for addition
to the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme. Manufacturers, retailers and
members of the public are encouraged to give their suggestions to the
Singapore Environment Council on what groups of products they would like
to see incorporated under the scheme.
