Innovations that are in existence and operation or just completing their development cycle and at the end of its testing faze can also qualify for an award within this category.

In short, the new Awards recognises technologies, solutions and innovations which prove to have qualities that help preserve and conserve the environment.

These include performance-enhancing capabilities that improve energy, water and, or waste minimization. All products should also have other equally desirable attributes, such as the ability to enhance reusability and, or recyclability.

Additional Information

In 2005, the Singapore Environment Council formed a partnership with the Experiment, Commercialise, & Innovate in a Test-Bed Experience (EXCITE) programme launched by the Jurong Town Corporation (JTC), and Economic Development Board (EDB).

The EXCITE programme welcomes individuals and companies to test-bed, showcase and commercialise ideas and innovations in the areas of Connectivity, Energy, Lifestyle and Mobility.

Until now, the Singapore Environment Council’s role in EXCITE had been to recognise environmental technologies emerging from the programme. In addition, the Council also aimed to develop tropical standards for “green products” under the umbrella of the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme.

The Singapore Environment Council is enhancing its relationship with EXCITE by highlighting and awarding environment-friendly innovations.

In additoin to the above, the SEC-Senoko Power Green Innovation Awards is given to products that have successfully passed the stringent assessment of EXCITE.
